About Us

Abbey Memorials Limited’s business as memorial masons began in 1979 and has since grown to become a major supplier of high quality memorials at reasonable prices across the UK from its offices and factory based in Rayleigh, Essex.

As suppliers direct to the public as well as to the wholesale trade we regularly receive orders from previous customers and from recommendations made by customers who have used us in the past.

We have retails outlets outside two cemeteries – Turner &Co outside Manor Park Cemetery in Forest Gate, East London and W.E.Smith & Son outside Plumstead Cemetery, South London – as well as two websites via www.abbeymemorialsltd.co.uk and www.ukmemorialservice.co.uk

We welcome visitors to our factory in Rayleigh Essex where customers can see how their memorials are manufactured and inscribed.

We make the majority of our memorials to order and this means that it need not cost much more to have a memorial made to your own design – or to ask us to match one that you have seen elsewhere – using any of the coloured granites, marble, slate or limestone variations that we are able to source for you. Although a memorial model may be shown in the brochure or on our website as polished black granite we could make the same memorial in a different stone of your choice – just ask us to quote using the stone that you like – or for the whole range of stone types and colours so that you can see the different prices.

We employ a team of highly skilled master craftsmen – including masons, carver, polishers, letter cutters and fixers – many of whom have been here for very many years, enabling us to offer continuity of quality in our workmanship and service. Our team of office staff and memorial consultants have also been with us for many years and are sensitive to the needs of our customers during what can be a difficult time and an emotional experience.

We are approved as accredited memorial fixers by the two trade bodies – the National Association of Memorial Masons (NAMM) and the British Register of Accredited Memorial Masons (BRAMM) which allows us to install memorials in Local Authority cemeteries and churchyards operated by the Church and Parish Councils.

Commissioned Work

We were commissioned by Southwark Council in London to provide a war memorial which is situated in their Camberwell New Cemetery.

We have also supplied and erected a 20 ton war memorial which is situated outside Harrow council offices and was opened by the Duke of Gloucester.
